From Monday 17 February:

People visiting one of our five recycling centres by CAR will no longer need to book in advance – but may be asked to show proof that they live in Shropshire.

People visiting with a VAN or TRAILER will still need to book a slot, and must also show proof of residency when they arrive.

This change is being introduced following feedback from residents, and to make it as easy as possible for Shropshire residents to use the centres.

Three-weekly waste collections

In our recent budget consultation we asked for views on a possible change to three-weekly collections of general waste, to help the council save money. Thank you to everyone who responded.

After considering the feedback from the consultation – and with all councils legally required to introduce free weekly food waste collections from 2026 – we won’t be considering any changes to general waste collections until the new food waste collections are introduced – so, sometime after April 2026.

Any change to collection frequency would be subject to agreement by the council’s Cabinet and full Council, public consultation, and discussions with Veolia, the council’s waste contractor.
